Valenzuela's Veritas

In ominous times truth always finds a way out from darkness into light. Always. Through truth knowledge grows into the power and strength to question the actions of governance. In times that try men's souls it is those who seek enlightenment who are truly free. Given the choice of possessing ignorance or knowledge, even when ignorance would lead to an easier life, I would choose knowledge, thus escaping the life of sheeple, escaping the bondage of not knowing, not caring and not understanding.

Human Hell and the Demons of War

------------------------------------------------

Branch Warfare and the Evolution of Aggression

The pages of history, those monuments to humankind’s brief rule over the planet, are replete with violence, death and destruction. Indeed, it can be argued successfully that war, genocide, ethnic cleansing and human violence against each other have defined humanity’s tumultuous existence on Earth. We are inseparable from death and destruction, suffering and violence. Turning the pages of the little we know of our own past, one thing becomes quite apparent: Throughout time, in all corners of the world, mankind has lived side by side with war, destruction and death. We have defined our existence through the self-inflicted violence we unleash upon ourselves. What is it about the human condition that espouses in us a propensity to grossly annihilate ourselves, inflicting horrendous misery onto our kind?

Violence and humanity were born conjoined twins out of the thick canopy of our ancestral home in the Eastern African jungles. Even in the ape-like appearance and behavior of our primate selves could our violent genes be seen. Competition forced upon us the will to survive through the defeat of competitor groups. Wars waged high in the canopy became the first symptoms of our disease. Group versus group, competitor versus competitor, the violence ingrained in us manifested itself in the primitive battles and hollowed screams of our long-gone ancestors.

Branch to branch, foot by foot, with nail and teeth the prelude to modern warfare was born.

Struggling over territory we fought interlopers; competing for finite resources we waged battles. Our drive to procreate pitted male versus male in animalistic bouts of combat that killed, wounded or banished. The winner of such fights controlled fertile females, claiming new forested territory as a result, thus becoming the new procreator of genetic bonds, killing off genetic competitor’s offspring if he had to. Survival of the fittest ensured that only our most able ancestors succeeded and passed on their seed to future generations.

In a world of survival that depended on an ability to defend the group and protect territory from alien invaders our primate ancestors had to evolve violence. Only those who developed the greatest propensity to violence and those who possessed the best skills in combat could be assured of survival. Thus, it was these skills and propensities that got passed down generation to generation, eventually becoming attached to our evolving makeup. Survival of the fittest demanded that violence become part of the human condition, a necessary and adaptable behavior needed to survive and thrive.

To fight or fail, to battle and win, our early days, full of competition for sexual mates, territory and finite resources, became the primitive engenderer of the violence that befalls humanity today, just as it has throughout history. To develop aggressiveness, propensity to violence and skill in combat assured our ancestors lived another day. To fail in battle meant almost certain extinction and genetic banishment. It was those who survived, those who are today our most direct predecessors that were the most violent, the most lethal and most adept in aggression whose genes we eventually inherited.

The greatest symptom of our disease today was spawned in the wars of survival emanating in the now forgotten days of yesteryear. The virus that causes so much death, destruction and misery today was forged before we knew what we would eventually become. Out of necessity, out of adaptability and based on the laws of nature humankind arose from the jungles bipedal and intelligent, predisposed of violence and competition. The laws meant for the animal world mutated in form and substance with our ever-evolving brains, creating the most lethal, self-destructive and violent mammal the world has ever spawned.

Conditioned Minds, Hidden Realities

Our mistake is not wanting to see who and what we truly are. It is living in the delusion of our grandeur and the imposition of our omnipotence. It is neglecting to acknowledge the reality of our origins and the truth behind our behaviors. It is living in the delusion that we are something we are not. Thinking ourselves placed on this planet through the hands of our metaphysical idol, we believe in the façade of the magnificence of our civilization and the perfection of our existence.

Failing to erase the delusion of our god-appointed reign over the planet or the deity-inspired anointment over all living creatures we blindly devour anything in our path, destroying the knowledge of our being by the evisceration of our home. Thinking ourselves a completely different entity than the mammal world we belong to, we refuse to realize that from our cousins our behaviors arise. All mammals derive from a common ancestor, a rat like creature that evolution transformed to the plethora of diversity our species is slowly making extinct. It is only natural, then, that we share many of the same traits and behaviors as our blood relatives. As an example, we share over 98 percent of the same genes as a chimpanzee, while we share over 90 percent of the same genetic makeup as a common mouse.

To study the animal world is to in many ways delve into the far and not so far reaches of human behavior, peering through the unobstructed lens creatures sharing many of our traits comprise. To study the behavior of our closest relatives is to dive into the deepest wells of human evolution and seeing who and what we really are. By understanding that which we fail to escape but refuse to acknowledge better humans can we all be made to be.

We fail to understand where we come from, what we once were and how evolution works. Thinking ourselves immune to the same laws of nature encapsulating the rest of the animals world we are in essence abandoning an enormous chunk of information that can allow us to better understand the human condition. We do not comprehend that evolution works in eons, not decades, that behaviors and genetic mutations transcend generations and that much of what we think of as human nature today was first brought to light hundreds of thousands of years ago, long before the arrival of civilization, technology and religion.

Our religions have made us believe in the exquisite creation of our civilization and in the chosen ascendancy of our almighty sovereignty. They have, through the perceived greatness of our species deriving from the heavens above, guided us on paths of human myths, not realities. Created before our minds could conceive of or understand our relationship with the animal and natural world, religion furthered beliefs at odds with our animal selves and our own behavioral and instinctual evolutions. It condemned the idea of us as animals inclined with many of the same characteristics as the mammalian world. Instead, its dogma demanded that were gods onto ourselves, rulers of the planet, created by our deity in its same image.

Religion commanded that we look upon ourselves as separate entities from anything living on Earth. We were placed on the planet by powers higher than ourselves, created out of thin air, becoming human the moment we took our first breath. Evolution was non-existent, as was the idea that humankind was once part of the animal world. Our evolving physical and mental realities were never taken into consideration, nor the truth of the natural world that enveloped us.

Religion that was created thousands of years ago continues to control our lives today, with the same primitiveness of days gone by and with the same belief structure that fails to include the knowledge and intelligence we possess today. It is these mechanisms, along with our inability to escape the cloud of self-aggrandizing delusion hovering above us that continues to plague our advancement.

We live in the denial of our existence, believing us superior and chosen, unable, unwilling really, to accept that which our minds and egos refuse to acknowledge. For to degrade ourselves as having risen and indeed being part of the world of the beasts and mammals would be to strike down the fallacy of our own self-absorbed greatness that has led us down the wrong road for the last ten-thousand years. Conditioned for millennia to believe in our own hegemony and importance, we have been led astray, lost in our concrete jungle ecosystems, wandering aimlessly on our road to perdition, passing through the ruins of the knowledge that can save us but that we are destroying, even as we refuse to accept the reality of our creation and the truth behind our behaviors.

The animal world that birthed us have we abandoned, along with the vast knowledge it possesses. The keys to understanding ourselves lie in front of our eyes, in the world we refuse to acknowledge and only seem to want to destroy. Instead primitive we remain, thrust upon our violent selves by our refusal to evolve past the dogma of ancient times that was born to ignorance and fear. A perplexing quandary has arisen that denies the truth behind our ways and the understanding we desperately need to squash our demons. In light we see no evil and in darkness the truth remains.

The grand lie we live of our god-like divinity has for centuries clashed with the great truth of our animal-like reality. Except we are too delusional to see beyond the mirage of greatness we espouse onto our fragile egos. The great fallacy of our omnipotence is corrosively leading to the impotence of our continued existence.

Evolving Brain, Advancing Civilization, Destructive Violence

Spit out of the jungles by evolution after we landed on solid ground from the dense branches of our trees above, we began our great Diaspora, ever-slowly traversing savannah, desert, forest, tundra and oceans, reaching the far reaches of the globe. Yet within us we carried the virus that to this day continues to plague our existence.

Attaching itself to the human condition like a blood-sucking leach firmly entrenched on a mammalian body, our propensity towards violence has never left us. Like many species of animal, including our primate cousins, aggression and violence are deeply entrenched in our psyches. The real danger, however, lies in the evolving brain we have over the millennia allowed to develop.

What separates our aggression from the instinctual one residing in the animal kingdom is our capacity for intelligent, analytical and cognizant understanding. That is, our intelligent brain has the capability to mutate our many passions, emotions and aggressions into organized violence against our own kind, done methodically and purposefully, thereby superceding any instinct we might possess to the great detriment of our fellow man. The threat to our race is that unlike animals, whose aggression is minimal and based on instincts of survival that also serve the laws of nature, our propensity towards violence exerts pressure to endanger our own kind thanks to the complex mechanizations of the mind. Our deep thinking and highly intelligent brain unleashes violence not according to the laws of the jungle but for much more sinister purposes dealing with our highly volatile and misunderstood animal passions.

With feelings of anger, hatred, competition, revenge and jealousy so ingrained into our animalistic selves, it becomes extremely difficult to sequester them in our daily lives. These emotions, and the reactions inherent in such circumstances, are unique to the human race. It is our species that can act out violently against such passions; we are the only animal that can direct our passions in violent outrage, whether at one person, an entire army or an absolute nation. Our vast superiority in intelligence over the animal world, combined with the same behaviors and propensities as our mammal relatives, makes us much more dangerous animals than previously existed. It is our mind, combined with our animal passions, that allows our violent and aggressive selves to mutate to the kind of destruction, death and misery we are so capable of.

It is this Molotov cocktail of human intelligence and animal passions that makes of man that most dangerous of animals. Intelligence and passion, when mixed together, can create a volatile concoction that has been manifested in the often bloody history of man.

When combined with the collective brain of the many, such as in the case of tribes or nation-states, the propensity towards violence against competitors or rivals becomes even greater, escalating into full-fledged war. The same parameters that led to fighting among our primate ancestors and the animal world of today helps bring to the surface the human hell that has shackled us from our earliest beginnings and that today leads to untold levels of misery worldwide.

Competition for food, resources, sexual partners and territory condemn humans to releasing into the open the virus of violence attached to our psyches that lingers hibernating in the innermost closets of our minds, ready at any moment to makes its ominous entrance into our lives.

With our more intelligent mind, however, new non-nature parameters that open the scabs of violence have emerged in the last several hundred thousand years. As differences of religious dogma arose, eroded and mutated throughout tribal societies, so did the propensity for war based on differences of belief. Indeed, wars of religious inclinations have killed, maimed and destroyed more humans than any other excuse for warfare. The untold suffering caused by religious wars cannot be adequately described in words. The “my god is better than your god” syndrome, combined with the ‘my religion is the true and only religion’ belief in which battles for the true religion continue to be fought, has condemned hundreds of millions and perhaps billions of human spirits to the nadir of nothingness.

Wars of religious proclivity are the greatest example of the malignant human hell that legitimizes the murder and killing of our fellow man. Added to the already prevalent munitions of aggression our animal selves are born with, this breed of violence, encompassing a small timeframe of our life on Earth, against differences of religion, nationality, ethnicity, race, beliefs, goals and vision of the world, has elevated the violence against one another to a scale the first humans to inhabit the world could never possibly envisage.

Conflict has defined human society from time immemorial. Our gravitation to violence has characterized our existence and our history. After leaving our cradle in Africa, from our earliest nomadic tribal predecessors to our most advanced societies today our fate has in large measure been determined as a result of warfare. Competition for land, homes, food, sexual partners and resources were once the sole reason for human combat. Today, added to those just mentioned we can include the much more sinister wars based on differences of religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, beliefs and goals. With the advancement of human civilization our primitiveness only grows. The introduction of new anthropological creations in human societal evolution have only exacerbated the need to kill one another. The reasons for human hell keep increasing with the advancement of our existence and the continued growth of our species.

Conquest, usurpation, power and control have sealed destinies and advanced humankind to where it stands today. It is these same that will help seal our fates the more we clash and more we bump into each other’s vested interests. Under growing pressures for the finite space available and as nation states compete for Earth’s dwindling resources, the human hell we have known since the dawn of time will only resurface once more, continuing to dance alongside humanity’s unsustainable desires, animalistic passions and our voracious inability to understand the complexity of who and what we truly are that has scarred us during our entire time on Earth.

The Human Hell

What is it about war that makes beasts and demons of man? What is it about destroying our own kind that unleashes such anger and passion? What is it about the human hell that returns us to the savage and barbaric days of the past? Our animal and primitive selves are resurrected with the call to war, opening in our minds the collective memories of an entire history of death, destruction and misery. The human hell opens the conveyor belts of accepted violence, a time when those in power make it moral to destroy a fellow human energy along with the advancement of entire societies. The human hell allows warmonger leaders to condemn to death the citizens comprising the military while permitting those who survive to destroy their fellow men.

From nails and teeth to stones and branches to arrows and spears to guns and cannons to missiles and bullets the human condition has evolved. Along with us, however, is our twin called violence, sitting on our side waiting patiently for the bells of carnage to be heard, clandestinely shrouded in the inner bowels of man, released with the call to arms that mutates us back to the animal world we claim to rule, not be part of. For violence knows that she will eventually reap what man sows, commandeering entire armies of enraged men to become exactly that which human morality and religion stands firmly against.

Through the cross-hairs of a rifle or the aiming of a weapon man stops being man. He who fires and aims has become beast while he who is fired upon is but a subhuman target, losing all personality and humanity. The human hell turns man into beast, Jekyll turns into Hyde and the world becomes a bastion for the demons running rampant in the human condition. Atrocities become accepted, rapes become desirable, carnage fills the air and humanism erodes more and more with each new devastation of land and man.

The human hell legalizes those most heinous crimes our civilization condemns. It makes heroes out of war criminals, replaces justice with destruction and executes devastation upon innocence. Murder and cold-blooded execution are given the legal justifications never granted in society. The losers of war become war criminals while the victors become war heroes, to be honored and rewarded for the crimes against humanity they helped perpetrate. War presidents are given full reign to decimate tens of thousands of civilians and to make toxic entire nations, ruining countless lives in the process.

The human hell orchestrates a symphony of macabre manifestations, unleashing the most deadly weapons known to man upon cities and standing armies. Artillery rains down from the clouds, missiles strike like thunder from the gods. Bullets spray mercilessly onto fragile human bodies while rockets devastate both homes and lives. The human hell war is called, released from the innards of the human condition, magnifying the worst symptoms in our disease.

Death, destruction and misery enliven the energy that feeds from human blood. The animal inside us awakens with the adrenaline rush of death and survival. Hatred, anger, animosity and revenge are spawned as our animal selves usurp our human minds. Humans become worthless, their lives easily taken, their deaths expected. Entire cities are sacked, children and women are murdered without impunity, human morals and virtues are made extinct. Human hell makes monsters of entire peoples acquiescing to the crimes against humanity being committed in their name.

The enemy is hated, though he is unknown. The desire to kill him grows, though he never hurt us. Unleashing pain upon him and his people is ingrained into our minds, though we fail to realize he is as human as us. The human hell blinds us to a humanity we once possessed, unearthing our animal passions that, combined with our human intelligence, causes a weapon of death and destruction, unrepentant, unrelenting and unforgiving. The human hell makes man the incarnation of evil, released upon civilization, thrusting decimation upon our own kind.

It is evil born of man that our religions warn against. It is our violent selves our scribes write about. It is man at his worst that we must fear.

The development of stereotypes, differences in beliefs and racial identity, the arrival of fears and ignorance, ethnic and cultural complexities, different goals and ways of seeing the world, auras of superiority along with competitive pressure for land, food and resources contribute to the ever-growing need to unleash the human hell onto our environment.

Genocide and ethnic cleansing have, along with war, been a part of the virus we call human violence from the very beginning of human understanding. Entire groups have been extinguished, entire regions cleansed of humans. It goes on today as much as it did sixty years ago. Our history has been marked by genocide after genocide, ethnic cleansing after ethnic cleansing, war after war. After every atrocity cries of ‘Never Again’ rise as if this time humanity will learn its lessons. Yet, as we know too well, the cries go mute as the deaf ears of mankind once more tremble with yet another thunderous blast from a hail of bullets and missiles wiping out an entire grouping of people.

In the unrecoverable echoes of our lost humanity can be heard wails of ‘Again and Again,’ never learning from our atrocities or the evil born within us. War, that most dastardly of all human hells, as old as our first pioneers and as dangerous as the most venomous human to ever walk among us, has created Holocaust after Holocaust, monopolized by no group of humans, distributed to all corners of the globe, regardless of skin color, ethnic makeup or religious beliefs.

War is hell on Earth, affecting humankind throughout time and space, inconsequential to the perceptions we might have or the delusion we might live. War makes demons of our soldiers, free to roam alongside evil as it infects once placid men who respected human morality in peace but exterminate its principles in war. Through war humankind returns to our primitive selves, becoming the smartest of animals, capable of exterminating its own kind and setting free the misery that has befallen every generation of humanity from the time of first beginnings.

The absurdity of human war has yet to be stopped, for we have yet to fully understand who and what we truly are. Inside us lie the answers; in knowing the animal world lays our salvation. We claim ourselves the epitome of modernity, of civilization and of knowledge, but ape like creatures prone to violence is our reality, intelligent, sure, self-destructive, you bet. War has never ceased, and there is no reason to believe that is one day will. War is violence, and violence is humankind. Our reason is no match for our animal passions; our younger, analytical mind is easily clouded by our older, primitive one.

The salvation to the greatest symptom of our disease has been at our hands since the first human opened its eyes. Yet over the course of our brief stay on Earth we have been made blind, thanks to our own devices, to a reality that is as humbling as it is frightening. Our egos refuse to listen, see or touch that which emanates from all corners of the globe. We fear knowing that which for centuries has been denied, afraid that we will see that we are not what we once thought ourselves to be.

The human hell will continue to linger and determine our fates. It will continue to maim, murder and decimate. For as long as we have walked this now scarred Earth the demons running in our veins have dominated us, corroding our societies and humanity, manipulating us toward unleashing the great evil living within us. In the end, the human hell called war will be our demise as our inability to comprehend who and what we are will crash with the ever-expanding lethality of our technologies. From rocks and sticks to mutually assured destruction, our violent selves have never changed. Except today’s version of yesterday’s rocks and sticks could conceivably annihilate entire regions and indeed the entire surface of the planet.

Warfare is ingrained inside the human condition, unrelenting and dominating. We have yet to exorcise this most terrible demon from our wake. Humanity and violence are conjoined twins, it seems, inseparable brothers thriving off each other. Where man goes violence and war soon follow; where violence is found man will most certainly be found. In all regions of the globe, in all peoples and societies, violence lingers about and controls us, from spousal abuse to declared war among nations. All it needs to resurrect itself from outside the crate that lies hidden in our mind is a war like leader eager to launch the trumpets of war. All that is needed for violence to release its most toxic cancers upon our civilization is for good men to do nothing upon the calling of the masses.

As long as we fail to understand the world around us and the true psychology of the human condition violence and war will continue to lead to death, destruction and untold misery. As long as we remain ignorant and silent to the control violence has over our race children will continue to be buried by their parents. For, as Plato is claimed to have once said: “Only the dead have seen the end of war.”

To deny the fruit of our impulses is to deny the very existence of our being. Our denial and failure to accept the reality of what we are is guiding us down the road to perdition. The corrosive unwillingness to delve into the internal realizations of our past, present and future will inevitably lead to our never putting a stop to the dastardly deeds our species is capable of unleashing upon ourselves and the lands we inhabit.

As a result, ‘Never Again’ will continue to be shouted in vain after yet another war, act of genocide or ethnic cleansing. The impotence of such words will only be seen in light of the omnipotence of continued human violence and war. In time, ‘Again and Again’ will come to be seen as the perpetual reality that haunts our existence, plaguing humanity from the beginning to the very end. We seem incapable of stopping ourselves from repeating a history that is all too familiar to us.

In truth, perhaps our very existence is defined by war and violence, and addicted we have become to the horrors our creative energies wreak upon our world. Maybe violence is as ingrained a part of our psyches as love, affection and happiness are. How else do we explain an entire existence, spanning many hundreds of thousands of years, scarred by death, violence, destruction and suffering? Only when we confront our animal selves and escape this delusion of ourselves as almighty creatures of chosen prowess will we find respite from our evil ways. Until then, only the dead can be assured of never again experiencing that most devastating of human hells called war.

Into Pyramid’s Shadow: At War with Ourselves

---------------------------------------------------

Like Taking Candy from a Baby

As natural as the end of summer giving way to cooler temperatures and the changing colors of the trees, the vast machinations of the military-energy industrial complex has yet again begun to spin in preparation for the upcoming midterm elections, using the myriad number of tools at its disposal to manipulate the electorate into once more voting against its own interests, into voting for the interests of the elite few. Knowing the absolute ignorance, gullibility and lack of critical thinking of the American masses, those in power are able, once more, in what has become all too familiar throughout the annals of history, to skew the decision, mentality and vote of large segments of the population by simply reaching to the primitive instincts of human nature and manipulating emotions, psychology and the instinct of survival prevalent in every living organism.

To the corporatists and elites steering the nation, this exercise is like taking candy from a baby, for having a citizenry devoid of reason, logic and common sense has its privileges. Unaware that their lives are in firm control by the elite, not knowing the level of manipulation they are subjected to, ignorant to their incessant brainwashing practically from birth, the American masses are like sheep being herded from pasture to slaughter, unable to understand the control over their lives, unwilling to confront the malignancy that festers in their midst, and subservient to the wolves disguised as shepherds that lead them up the ramp of mirages into the corral of complete manipulation.

Indeed, the energy/petroleum industry, already morbidly obese with record breaking revenues, with each conglomerate literally making tens of billions of dollars in profits in multiple fiscal years, all at the expense of the average American consumer, has seemingly made the decision to sacrifice one fiscal quarter, or three months of revenues, choosing to break even instead of raking in billions in profits. This decision, of course, is to help ensure that the vital mid-term elections are decided in the direction most favorable to the industry. It has been the corporatist Republican Party, after all, that has in the last six years enabled the industry to lay claim to unimaginable levels of profit, power and control, both over the citizenry and the course of the nation.

Those at the helm of these oil multinationals have become our overlords, in the process making the government, now more than ever before, their instrument of domination. It was at their behest, their demand, that Afghanistan and Iraq were invaded and occupied, that the nation’s institutions have been infiltrated by the industry’s executives and lawyers, that the nation’s tax laws were rewritten so as to exclude the elite and appease the corporate world, that America’s environmental laws and regulations have been gutted, and the reason the American consumer has for six years been fleeced at the gas pump, with ever increasing prices becoming the new normal, so much so that if the price of gas drops fifty cents, as it is today, we think it wonderful, even though today’s discounted prices are much higher than those two years ago.

So profitable has having absolute control over all levels of governance been for the industry that the sacrifice of one fiscal quarter of its enormous profits to insure its interests are retained will have no ill-effect on the corporations. To these giants of petroleum, breaking even for three months is the price of doing business, of assuring themselves the unbridled opportunity to once again fleece the American consumer at the pump. After the election, with a little patience, after a small pause in momentum and through a minute restraint on greed, the rape and pillage of the population’s bank accounts can continue unabatedly, once again using the full force of the state and the corporate world to methodically subjugate the people. For while the energy/petroleum industry is forced by necessity and realism to think in the long-term, the American people have no such inclination, or desire. Rather, they think exclusively in terms of the here and now, of the selfish ego of wallet and security. The genius of the industry’s manipulation, of course, is that the People are as unaware of what is being done to them as a lemming is to the periodic migration that will eventually cost it its life. Nobody seems to worry, nobody seems to care.

The greatest profits, and hence shareholder wealth, in the history of the corporate world have been born through the spilling of blood in the Middle East, for nothing increases the price of a barrel of petroleum more than instability, war, violence and devastation. War, threats, fears and instability in the lands pregnant with the devil’s excrement invariably lead to the manipulation of supply and demand, helping to fatten the coffers of the governments possessing oil fields, the corporations elected to extract and bring it to market, as well as the stockholders owning the conglomerate. The name of the game, the geopolitical chess match among powers, the contest played between the elites of powerful nations, and the reason America has its claws wound tight throughout the Middle East and around the Caspian Basin, is control of both the spigots spouting oil and the pipelines deciding which direction black gold flows, as well as possessing the power to manipulate the lever of stability upon which the supply and demand of petroleum is based.

These are the games elites and corporations play, and we are but sacrificial pawns in their next calculated move.

The Chimperor and the Pyramid

Indeed, the perpetual control of the masses by the elite few has been a hallmark of human kind, going back millennia, spanning every known civilization and region of the planet, evolving from the social hierarchy of mammals to the social structures of primates to the eventual creation of social classes and castes of modern man. The inability of humankind to escape a reality and a society based on hierarchical pyramids, with a powerful few at the top, a subjugated and weak majority at the bottom, and a sizeable middle fed the crumbs, bones and scraps of the elite that fatten and make comfortable their existence, their lives engineered to act as the barrier between elite and masses, invariably gives credence to the fact that perhaps humans are genetically, psychologically and by nature predisposed, like all social mammals, to live in societies separated by hierarchy, based on an accepted control of the few at the top of the many at the bottom.

Perhaps our perpetual struggle with classes and castes, with rich, middle class and poor, our incessant inequality and injustice, our fight with greed and indigence, comfort and suffering, with the societal cancer that affects all aspects of human civilization, is as much a part of the human animal as anything else ingrained in our condition. What else explains our historical inability to escape a system where an elite few subjugate and thoroughly dominate the poor masses? What explains the perpetual control by one minute group over one enormous in size, and the inability of the masses to ever overtake the elite? Why do societies, over and over and over again, allow themselves to be governed or ruled by the puppets of the elite or by the elite themselves, knowing full well that the interests of the masses have never and will never be furthered? Why has it been impossible for the many to usurp power from the few for a prolonged and constant timeframe? And why, when it is perfectly understood by the masses that the state and its institutions are designed to further the interests of the elite few, does nothing ever change, and complacency always prevail?

History, it seems, is but an affirmation of our mammalian and primate reality, as the hierarchical pyramid has never had its foundations shattered, nor has its top ever come crumbling down. In fact, the pyramid continues to reach skywards, building itself a much wider base and a smaller apex, with the elite reaching where gods once roamed with the masses being buried deeper and deeper into the ground. Yet it is this same pyramid, long a stalwart companion to the human condition that, the longer time passes and the greater our numbers multiply, threatens to tear all of civilization apart, for it is the inequality and injustice prevalent today, whether that defined as state versus state or social class versus social class, that is engendering ever more levels of anger, resentment and hatred. The consequences of this reality could be disastrous.

Commencing in our mammalian days, with Eden still virgin and pristine, still not contaminated by the plague called humanity, its forests and jungles and grasslands full of life and splendor, the silence of its beauty as enjoyable as today’s most inspiring symphony, at a time when we hung from trees and lived in nests, at a time when we were preyed upon and hunted, before we embarked on mass extinction, turning everything we touched to waste, we lived in groups dominated by an alpha male, an animal larger, stronger, more aggressive and endowed with higher levels of testosterone than his competitors, able to offer the best available resources within his territory to available females while possessing the abilities needed to defend his territory from all potential male rivals. It was this male that reigned over his female harem, as well as his male subordinates, allowing no competitor or rival access to the group of mates needed for procreation. With his life he guarded this most cherished female possession, for inside the wombs of his females his genetic immortality and lineage depended.

Thanks to natural selection no rival could match his strength, stamina, aggressiveness and political skill, assuring himself that his seed propagated itself even after his death. It would be his offspring, too, that would retain his genes and traits, the skills and abilities evolution created to survive and thrive in the violent and aggressive world of our primate ancestors. It was only in old age, robbed of energy, testosterone and strength by the sands of time, made weak by years of living, that a newer, stronger rival would dethrone him, thereby creating new genes and new social and political interactions. A new leader could emerge at any time, challenging the alpha for dominance and for copulating rights, his presence coming either from a stranger outside the group or from within, usually from a son or relative thinking himself able to defeat the chimperor in battle.

As we evolved we retained much of our primate ancestors’ linear dominance hierarchy, and among the pre-human hominid group, both the males below the leader as well as all females aligned themselves according to this hierarchy, a pyramid evolution created to delineate rank and importance, for in their social interactions an order existed, one based on group dynamics, blood relationships, age, abilities, aggressiveness, political skill and, most likely, intelligence. In this setting, all males were considered dominant over females, though not above the alpha male, the chimperor.

The establishment of a hierarchical pyramid among our early ancestors, perhaps even among those rodent-like mammals that preceded our primate days – a behavior which can readily be seen in today’s social mammals – has as purpose the survival and perpetuation of the species, in evolutionary terms becoming a mechanism and an asset designed to minimize the rivalries and the competition that would naturally grow within social species as aggressive and intelligent as ours, creating synergy among peers of the group, even if unequal members, instead of divisive politics and unsettling jealousies, and bringing in unison several pieces of the collective puzzle rather than the disintegration of the group dynamic.

Weak, slow, fragile and rather impotent in nature compared to other species, early man had to rely on the strength that numbers afforded, depending on sizeable groups, and the social interactions between the members, for survival. Our early ancestors, whether primate or hominid, relied on strength in numbers for cooperation, hunting, gathering, resource protection, thinking, problem solving, migrating, subsisting, mutual defense and for warfare with other human groups. For it is the social interactions of man, based on the synergy that grows from brainstorming, our psychological need to live among our kind and our drive to depend on and trust others that is our strongest asset. Along with our intelligence, our social dependency and synergy has allowed us to become the dominant species on the planet.

Without our social traits we would have never been able to leave the forests of East Africa, most likely becoming one more failed species to become extinct. The ability to live in and interact with social, tight-knit groups in our infancy as a species, even if the group was divided by tiers of importance was, therefore, a monumental leap in our evolutionary path, allowing us to thrive and expand to all corners of Earth. For millennia this human socialized behavior has been ingrained into our existence, becoming part of the human condition, a vital reason we are who we are today.

Evolutionary wise, the hierarchy pyramid has served mammals, as well as humans, in minimizing the competition between rivals inside the same group, whether male or females, for the power and control that instinct naturally tries to attain. Hierarchy gave structure to group dynamics, a sense of normalcy for a species all too comfortable with violence and aggressiveness. Evolution worked allowing our ancestors to thrive in group synergy, with divisions based on hierarchy serving to prevent civil war among peers, for it is when two power-hungry, greed-mongering rivals are on equal standing that jealousy, selfishness, conniving, competition, backstabbing and political unscrupulousness are at their most intense levels. Division based on domination and submission has been an evolutionary bedrock for millions of years, serving to maintain the delicate balance that exists within groups.

In the world of our ancestors, the lack of a hierarchical pyramid, meaning equality among all, would probably have resulted in the complete disintegration of the group dynamic and as a consequence, of the individual selves as well. For without the group individual apes, wondering in the natural world, no matter how intelligent, would not survive. Indeed, it was the separation of powers and the division by hierarchy that allowed the first human groups to work so well, just as it does in the mammal world of today, enabling the human species to expand instead of cannibalizing itself through the emotions and psychology we are so familiar with today. Millions of years living with this linear dominance hierarchy, deeply embedded in our psyche and behavior, thus cannot be made to disappear in ten thousand years of civilization, much less overnight. Evolution does not work as fast as a scalpel, nor as fast as anti-depressants.

The division by hierarchy cemented itself even further with the growing intelligence of our species. Language brought forth communication and political partnerships, as well as the growing power of chieftains and tribal leaders. Tribal chiefs, whether through agility, strength, talent, leadership, greater levels of testosterone or by proving themselves on the battlefield, retained power, over time becoming the kings of large and growing tribes and clans, oftentimes passing their reign over to one of their sons, or daughters, until that time when the offspring passed the throne to one of his or her children, thereby assuring family power and control over the tribe for generations.

With the arrival of kings and the growth of the tribe into the village, town and then the city-state came the appointment of underlings, lackeys and the creation of separate state agencies. Bureaucracies were developed, agriculture emerged, different industries were spawned, entire armies were organized and overall, the ego of man combined with the selfishness and love of power and comfort to begin creating class divisions. The various state institutions and enterprises were usually given based on nepotism or favor – much like today’s corporate media – with many selections coming from within the ruling family or between its closest acquaintances. These in time were themselves given again and again to members of that bureaucrat’s family, thus cementing wealth into the family. This way, nobility, royalty and the upper classes were formed. Meanwhile, those not lucky enough to win favor with the royal family, comprising the majority of the growing city, became compartmentalized servants of the state, working in agriculture, the military or in the various state institutions and enterprises. The rise of the lower classes was thereby fomented. After a few generations the state was the sole domain of the royal family, with all other members of the city-state stratified based on delegated roles or according to relation with the royals, relegated to serving under the direction of and in the interests of those now in power.

With the arrival of fiefdoms, kingdoms, empire and the nation-state the dynamics of the tribe and city-state can be magnified. The levels of class division only continued to grow, the gaps between rich and poor expanded and the masses were, as always, ruled by an alpha male, with the occasional female at the helm, and, as always, based on a linear dominance hierarchical pyramid which assured the dissemination of stratified social structures. The interesting phenomenon during our long and oftentimes brutal history is the fact that a constant pattern of being ruled by tyrants and totalitarian emerges the more we study our history. From Mesopotamia to Persia, from Assyria to Egypt, from Greece to Rome, from Genghis Khan to Hannibal, from the Holy Roman Empire to the Ottoman Empire, from the kingdoms of Africa and India to the dynasties of China, from the empires of the Inka and the Maya and the Aztec, from those of Spain, England and France and Russia and everything in between, humanity has always, with few notable exceptions, been ruled by tyranny.

It seems that humanity is incapable of extricating itself from being ruled by alpha males, with these men oftentimes complete authoritarians, whether as emperors or kings or dictators or prime ministers or presidents. It is almost as if our nature demands the leadership of a Machiavelli type despot to rule over us. It is almost as if we demand to suffer, to never enjoy peace or tranquility, to always be ruled by totalitarian elements. This might be, perhaps, why democracy has only worked in spurts over history and why the world is still saturated by tyrants, whether disguised as warlords, dictators, emirs, kings, prime ministers or presidents, and why, after two centuries of so-called democracy in America, the nation threatens to succumb to the forces of authoritarianism.

If in fact humankind suffers from a preference for authoritarian rule, whether conscious or subconscious, then perhaps the battle against ourselves has truly just begun. If we are our own worst enemy, perhaps it is prudent to know and understand ourselves better before marching on to war. Only by knowing who and what we truly are can we defeat our most potent enemy: ourselves.

Illusions and Delusions of Democracy

With the arrival of comfortable yet brisk autumn air comes another election cycle, yet another voting mirage the elite perpetually exploit to impress upon the electorate the belief that the democracy of their dreams – the kind nurtured since birth from the bosom of brainwashed conditioning – is indeed the democracy of reality. In truth, however, the myth of American democracy is a carefully orchestrated charade that only serves to perpetuate the idea in the minds of citizens that the interests of the people are being satisfied through the election of chosen representatives.

In reality, American democracy, a systematic dance of deception, relies as much on manipulation and conditioning of voters’ minds as it does on the financial backing of a candidate. In this day and age, where television is the new worshipped god, the apparatus that will convince the voter which candidate to vote for, lections are about the image of the person running, the psychology of the voter, hiding truth from ever emerging into the conscious of the electorate, and smears directed to decimate an opponent’s reputation.

The subtle ways of manipulating the masses into voting for corporate and elite interests and away from those serving the people continues to be perfected by a corporatist cabal expanding its understanding of the American citizenry, as always aided by a populace consumed both by the myopic vision resulting from unfettered ignorance as well as by a comatose indifference spawned by materialistic addiction. This is America’s “new normal”.

Predictably, the interests that control the nation are maneuvering those instruments that affect the financial condition of the electorate as well as the emotional psychology of the citizenry, hoping the mental manipulation stimulates the voting energy as well as the myopic, short-term attention span of the average American citizen. In what will again be a case of the masses voting for the wealthy so that the wealthy can make themselves richer and more powerful at the expense of the masses, the mid-term election will not amend many of the problems affecting the nation and the populace, instead only succeeding in bringing in to power a new generation of charlatans and miscreants.

Elections in America – outside the state level – and most other nations purporting to espouse democracy are but a game of revolving musical chairs where only the most unscrupulous, cutthroat and backstabbing elite get to retain their seat, using the comforting hymns of seductive promises and the harmonious tunes of idealistic diatribe to hypnotize the citizenry into the voting booth. Like the Pied Piper, politicians play their magical flute, captivating the rat race into a frenzy of deluded belief and gullibility, capturing the emotional fragility, the wishful thinking and psychological needs of the population until that time when the rat race’s vote is no longer needed. Once the mighty leaders of the so-called democratic state are securely fastened to the seat of power the rat race can thus be lead down the precipice of indifference, falling into the raging waters of inconsequential invisibility, left to drown and be forgotten, the interests promised them vanishing with the morning fog.

There are, to be sure, a few honorable exceptions of scrupulous men and women whose virtue and principle favoring the interests of humankind cannot be denied, though unfortunately the honest observer of politicians must acknowledge that rotten apples are the rule, not the exception, for politics, especially at the highest levels of national office, are highly contested and coveted positions, a place where a ripe apple is a dead apple. When power, influence, wealth and control are up for grabs, becoming the rewards awaiting the victor, only humans possessing the most vile levels of morality end up in triumph, for to win an election of such sort, with so much on the line, one must be willing to sell his or her soul to the evil’s of human nature, becoming the corrupt tornado sweeping over rivals and one’s own principles, becoming the worst in the human condition.

It is the lying, cheating, corrupt and immoral individual that sits in power today, those willing to compromise virtue, as well as our interests, for their own selfishness, greed and thirst for power. These humans are, today, our elected officials, individuals that promise us heaven and lead us into purgatory; human beings whose thirst for power is only matched by their need for control; so-called representatives that possess the worst traits and characteristics of the primate called man. Elections have become, thanks to the evils of money and the myriad number of rewards for the winner, brutal, harsh, vicious and depraved, encompassing a cocktail of backstabbing and cutthroat tactics that seeks to win no matter how immoral the strategy may become.

Politicians and candidates must make deals with the criminals, thieves and murderers of corporate and elite domination (the real terrorist evildoers), making promises detrimental to the nation and the populace to those whose dollars fill the coffers of the campaign. Politicians are individuals depraved of honor, pathological liars and masters of spin, human beings wretched enough to sell their own children into bondage if that is what it would take to possess power. In the land of winner take all, in the nation of the individual, only those willing to sacrifice their integrity and morality will in the end be triumphant, sitting a top the halls of governance, smearing and destroying reputations, perpetually lying and spinning in selfish inebriation, selling their souls to greed and power, caring not one ounce for the interests of the people that voted them into power.

This is today the reality inside Washington, where one does not need to have wisdom or intelligence or honor to run for office. All that is needed is wealth, an ability to become a prostitute to power, unscrupulousness, membership in the Establishment and a desire to decimate friend and foe alike on the way to power and control. Running for national office is a game reserved exclusively for the elite and its chosen puppets; the peons, of which the masses are comprised, simply vote them into office under the illusion they have a say in American democracy, thinking the masquerade placed at their doorstep grants them choice and freedom in whom they can vote for, living the delusion that their interests will be well served by the corrupt deviant they decide to cast their vote for.

Unfortunately, choice of candidates has for decades been predetermined by those in power and control, thanks to the manipulations of the corporate media, the distortions of journalists and the mechanisms of money, power and capitalism, leaving only the freedom to choose the lesser of two evils whose two-headed hydra retain one, indivisible body. In America, the choice to be made by the electorate consists of two parties, a duopoly of political control, one neo-fascist and one right of center, almost mirror images of each other, one authoritarian and another anorexic, both the complete dominion of the corporate world. The only choice for a voter to make, realistically, is between this two-headed hydra, a monster reigned in and controlled by the elite, for the elite and of the elite. In fact, one cannot run unless the elite, the Establishment, have given the green light to proceed.

If the Establishment does not wish for one to run, it will make sure the potential candidate stands not a chance at succeeding, using its vast arsenal of weapons at its disposal to crush any upstart that thinks they might have a chance. By simply cutting off donations to the campaign, contributions from corporations and the rich, and by censoring, smearing, manipulating and distorting the campaign through the media, possibly making the candidate disappear completely from the airwaves, possibly negatively altering the electorate’s perception of the candidate, the Establishment can destroy any possibility of victory.

In this day and age, when television and media dominate and control the minds of the population, constructing or destroying image, creating and molding thought and opinion, manipulating decision making, it is the candidate the corporation and the Establishment want in office that will inevitably be chosen by the voting public. For the masses are used as the conduits by which the elite get placed in power; we are the grease lining the engines of corruption, greed and immorality; the threads and cottons lining the expandable pockets of the wealthy. We are, in short, but tools of the elite, a means to an end, automatons unknowingly manipulated into whom to vote for, granted permission to push the levers and buttons that will invariably lead to the ascension of our masters and to our ever-diminishing fate.

Almost religiously we head to the voting booth, eager and excited to cast our vote, all the while knowing that our choice is limited and that in the end, the more things change the more things stay the same. We vote knowing that professional politicians are lying and unscrupulous power mongers, yet we vote anyways. We vote knowing that those we vote for are from an elite aristocracy, their interests completely at odds with our own, knowing that only the elite will benefit from our votes, at the detriment of our interests, yet we vote anyway. We are made to believe, almost zealously, in the leadership of our candidate, though we are fully aware that only the corporate world will be made better off through his or her victory. We delude ourselves into believing the illusion of democracy, even when we only have a choice of two candidates whose platform are almost mirror images of each other. We know we are lied to almost pathologically by our chosen candidate, knowing full well that truth is anathema to a politician, yet we believe or wash away these lies, preferring to drink the refreshing Kool-Aid of pretending democracy exists than confronting the reality that it is but an illusion to control and placate the masses.

It is as if the middle and working classes are resigned to the fact, and reality, that the elite have been and always will be in power, possessing dominion over their lives, even though they are few and the masses many. A perverted fatalism seems to always linger above the aura of the world’s citizens, willing to concede power to a tiny group that only expands its own powers while letting the majority of human beings rot in misery. From Latin America to Asia to Africa to America and Europe, billions accept as destiny the usurpation of power by a minority of wealthy and powerful human beings, from old wealth elites to those in control of the corporate Leviathan, accepting that their lives will be made worse, not better, by the same interests they help place in power. Is it any surprise that with elites in firm control over most of the world’s governments and resources inequality and injustice have grown exponentially, with no end in sight? Is it any wonder why disease, poverty, suffering and perpetual war continue to erode the tenets of humankind? Is it surprising why billions languish in primitiveness, living on two or three dollars a day, while the wealth of the elite continues to expand skywards?

We see governments all over the world falling like dominoes, not chained to communism but to predatory capitalism, with government and its institutions now owned by the corporate world, with the elite of every nation in firm control over the lives of the masses, yet indifferent we have become to our dwindling plight. Throughout every nation on the planet a small minority of the state’s elites always seem to sit at the throne of power, decade after decade, year after year, forever holding on to the reigns of governance, forever expanding their wealth and power while decimating the lives of the masses. They have transformed government institutions in their mirror image, designed to expand their own interests, serving to further subjugate the masses. Laws, rules, regulations and policies are written and implemented with the interests of the elite in mind, with those of the majority given little concern. Nationally owned businesses and resources, the patrimony of the state and its people, are, thanks to neo-liberalism, privatized and given, sold at a pittance, to the elite and their cronies who, for a few million dollars, get a return on their investment in the hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars.

The global institutions of the elite, the World Bank, IMF, NAFTA, neo-liberal policies and World Trade Organization, to name a few, are designed to further expand the exclusive interests of the elite few, at the enormous detriment of the masses, in essence creating an evolved mechanism of human enslavement, making the rich richer and poor poorer, enabling the elite unfettered profit and power while chaining the rest of us, billions strong, to the dark caverns of subservience. Through these institutions the elite have retained domination over the masses, expanding their mastery over all of us and proving, yet again, that since the dawn of time humanity has been unable, or unwilling, to alter the corrosive state of man’s pyramid of hierarchy. It is that stratified layer of subjugation that incarcerates minds and extinguishes energies; it is an ingrained reality of the human condition, a degenerate manifestation of mammalian social behaviors, where the exploitation of the many by the few has only increased, and the will by the masses to finally exterminate the cancer upon humankind only continues to decrease, as if billions have decided that fatalism and submission to the elite are preferred to a revolution and renaissance by the many.

This is, today, the state of human democracy, a shining beacon of smoke and mirrors that serves only as the mirage needed by the elite of every nation to retain power, in perpetuity, making the masses believe their voice is heard, their vote matters, their interests are being met. Yet reality is altogether different, for the elite care nothing for the peasant class, of which you, me and everyone else is an integral part of. America’s elite gladly send the sons and daughters of indigence to war, sent to become the cannon fodder of the corporate world, the centurions for the deluded vision of crazies. Tens of thousands come back maimed, both physically and mentally, while thousands more come back infected with radiation, the depleted uranium they unleashed on Iraqis coming back to fester forever in their bodies, eventually sickening and killing them. Up to 250,000 Iraqis and Afghanis have been killed in an illegal and immoral war based on lies and deceits. Three thousand innocent civilians were murdered on 9/11 by a government reeking of elitist neo-fascists, wishing to start an imperial project in the Middle East, wishing to create a new Pearl Harbor that would unhinge authoritarianism at home and hegemony abroad. Thousands more who were in Lower Manhattan, either assisting or living there, will inevitably die from the toxic cloud of vaporized concrete, glass, asbestos, plastic, metal and human remains they were forced to breathe, all the while assured by their government that the air was clean to breathe when it knew otherwise. Thousands of African Americans died and were displaced from their homes because the elite cared nothing for New Orleans and its citizens, preferring the building of tanks and bombs over the breaking of dams and lives.

The same statistics could be repeated over and over again, throughout the world, clearly showing a pattern of disregard and indifference to the plight of billions whose lives have been made to suffer at the hands of the elite that rule the nations of the planet. The message is clear: the chosen few care nothing for the condemned many. Billions of humans rot away their existence in utter indigence, living in squalor, at the margins of society, in shacks or shantytowns, dying of disease and malnourishment only a few miles away from the posh neighborhoods of the elite, full of mansions and estates, full of stolen money or wealth achieved through subjugation and exploitation, full of gluttony and greed. Here the ministers, secretaries and officials of governance dwell, where CEOs and executives of corporations sleep, where stepford wives shop and little juniors develop. Here the wealth expands into perpetuity, for every mechanism of the state benefits the lives and interests of the elite. They are the government, they control its institutions; they decide the course of the nation and the future of the masses.

Elections come and go, changing dynamics, personalities and faces, yet the misery of the masses remains as has always been, in fact getting worse with each passing decade, the exploitation and subjugation of the masses expanding in linear correlation with inequality and injustice, with the exponential growth in wealth of the elite. There thus arises the truism that this group of human beings does not care or concern itself with the lives of its servants and slaves. They care nothing for us, and the faster we realize this truth the quicker we can try and alter our strategy. We are and have always been the pawns of the elite, from time immemorial used and abused and exploited for our toil and energy. We are their servants, they our masters. They concern themselves for expanding their own power and wealth, at our expense if necessary, at our death if expedient. Making money on Wall Street is much more important to them than saving the life and health of thousands of New Yorkers. Shopping for shoes on Fifth Avenue and golfing in San Diego are of more importance than overseeing the evacuation of New Orleans, of caring for the plight of thousands of African Americans.

Democracy is at odds with the interests of the elite, for to this group democracy is a dangerous invention of human thought, a giant barrier they must jump in order to continue their supremacy. It is a malignant cancer to the elite, for in it they see their power eroding, their grip on control eviscerated. They are aware how perilous their hold on power truly is, for they know their numbers are minute compared to those of the masses. If they had their way, democracy would be non existent, replaced with the authoritarianism the masses seem to prefer.

More and more, democracy, in America as well as the developing world, is but the latest reincarnation of control, the historic enslavement of the masses by the elite that for millennia has marked our scarred presence on Earth. The genius of modern day democracy, however, is in the illusion it engenders that the masses have a voice and a say in their future. They are made to believe in the divinity of “power to the people,” in the great expectation that change is only a vote away and that their lives will improve through the election of the chosen leader. It is this charade that shackles the masses into the false belief of comfort and placidity, into the hypnotized stupor that since they voted, all will be well and that their interests will improve. It is this fallacy that maintains the masses quiet, submissive and contained.

Democracy, from its inception, has always been an idealistic principle better implemented in theory than in reality, an institution thoroughly incompatible with human nature, evolution and, most importantly, modern predatory capitalism. Its principles conflict with the behaviors and evolutionary psychology of man, with our social structure and our instincts for pyramids of hierarchy. It seems at odds with the historical preference, subservience, acquiescence and acceptance of the masses, generation after generation, of authoritarianism and tyranny, traversing our long journey through the vast smorgasbord of chieftains, high priests, kings, nobility, emperors, feudal lords, masters, slave holders, dictators, autocrats, fascists, despots, and presidents.

The Revolution that Will Not Come

Democracy is such a charade, such a fiction imprinted in the minds of the masses, that for centuries now, regardless of election or of time and place, the elites of all nations have yet to lose the power and control of their respective states. They have yet to be displaced by the people for an extended period of time. We might think revolutions as possible exceptions to this truism, yet in reality they are momentary glitches in the system, almost becoming self-correcting mechanisms the elite use to improve their grip over the majority of humanity. It is as if the elite grant us a moment lost in time to satisfy deep seated frustrations, an opportunity to shout our concerns and our demands, only to later crush our hopes and dreams once again.

Revolutions, in the context of human history, are indeed small blips on the screen of control, minute corrections from which the elite learn how to better manipulate and control us. Through these manifestations of discontent, the elite sacrifice the short term so that they can better prepare for the long term, knowing full well that the memory of man is only as long as the death of one generation and the birth of another. With adjustments and gained wisdom, the elite become aware that they must offer more crumbs, bones and scraps to the people, in order to control them for the next stage of civilization’s evolution, or devolution, until that time the people rise up again in frustration and hunger for more crumbs and scraps picked off the table of the elites’ gluttonous appetite.

The elite are also aware, consciously or subconsciously, that the masses rise up on rare occasions and indeed, much less today than in the past. The masses, especially in the lands of the north and those wealthier, semi-developed nations of the south – excluding much of Latin America which has undergone great social change – today live under better conditions than ever before, as hard as it is to think that true, and is the main reason why these populations have become obedient and complacent creatures. The levels of comfort granted them – as a result of the elite loosening the spigot of greed and actually increasing the size of the crumbs and bones given the masses – have enabled the aura of comfort to control the very emotions and frustrations that once served as catalysts for animosity and dissatisfaction. Thanks to the genius of credit cards and debt created by the elite, the masses can fully absorb the hypnotizing powers of consumerism and materialism, purchasing to their hearts content, filing their worthless and unhappy lives with the substitute goods and services that will add meaning and comfort to their lives. Through the consumption of goods the masses feel less inclined to complain about their lot in life, and thus less willing to confront the elite in revolution.

Meanwhile, the accumulation of debt enslaves the masses even further into slavery, making the elites even more powerful masters of the state. With so much comfort, with so much escapism through television and distraction through sports, music and video games, the populace is contained, deluded into thinking their lives are better than they actually are. Revolution cannot arrive through the comfortable existence of the masses, nor through the unbeknownst delusion of the people. And so, while the nation is gutted of its treasury and of its youth, while its education is eviscerated in favor of the instruments of war, while new Pearl Harbors are created and Mesopotamia is destroyed, while the state is becoming the fiefdom of the corporate world, while the government murders 3,000 people in New York and contributes to the death of 3,000 more in Iraq, the mass of the population sits on their couch for hours at a time, picking their collective butt hole, their bodies expanding in obesity while their minds shrink into oblivion as they are fed a diet of bread and circus, watching television and escaping into fantasyland, obsessed with the gossip of celebrity and of so-called perfection, not knowing why they are so unhappy, why they are so overworked, yet unable to pay the bills, why they must pop pill after mind-altering pill, why their children have the intelligence of a sock puppet, why their home is on the verge of foreclosure, why their health has become a liability, asking why they are made to fear of an ambiguous dark-skinned enemy.

Yet revolution will never arrive in America, for human beings seem to possess a genetic predisposition for suffering, becoming over years of existence a race of masochists, thriving in deprivation and submissiveness, seemingly preferring the corruption and incompetence of alpha male autocrats rather than the wisdom and intelligence of honor bound councils. There exists too much comfort, too much ignorance, too much indifference and laziness to care to lift a finger against the instruments of the state, no matter how detrimental they may become. An entire generation of America’s youth has become gluttonous and spoiled, following the example of parents, incapable of marching like the students of yesterday, incapable of understanding the complexities of a movement, unable and unwilling to be bothered by the activism necessary to alter the course of their authoritarian future. Millions of individuals have been taught, through years of brainwash education, to only think of themselves, to see the world in black and white, in the today and not the tomorrow. They would much rather listen to their Ipod or play their Playstation than seek that the government change course.

To many, their beautiful minds cannot be bothered by suffering or death or war, nor by the burdensome consequences of seeking change or truth or accountability; many more are too busy pursuing the ultimate charade, the greatest fiction of all, namely, the American Dream, a genius concoction by the elites to manufacture entire generations of exploitable slaves and brainwashed consumers. For entire lifetimes millions chase this unreachable dream, thinking one day they too will join the ranks of the elite, if only they can work hard enough, long enough, selling their souls to the evils of capitalism, becoming the unscrupulous carbon copy of many elites, bleeding, sweating and crying for a dream that ultimately will become a nightmare.

Power of the People has been made extinct in the land of the free and the home of the brave, its strength gutted by years of methodical conditioning of the masses by the elite. Only a minute few take to the streets these days, a virtual hiccup of brave patriots that barely makes noise on the national stage and hardly ever surfaces beyond the echoes of city streets. This group is almost non-existent, with clusters and groups spread throughout the nation, unable to force change, unable to inspire a now lost generation, unable to stop a most ominous course. To the elites, they are mere pests, easily swatted away by a few dozen police officers. The land of the complacent and the cowardly thus continues its inevitably slide into decadence and authoritarianism, without so much as a whisper or a yawn from its apathetic population.

Without care, without concern, indifferent to anything except the next episode of American Idol, 300 million individuals will forever be known as the generation that lost America to the plague of neo-fascists living among us. The “no-sacrifice, no-care, always-me” generation will not know what it has lost until it is too late, until they become nothing more than the army of good Americans. By then, 300 million people will be impotent creatures subservient to authoritarianism and repression, their rights and freedoms taken away, their liberties eroded, their lives further manipulated by the elite. The nation that once had the capability, indeed the momentum, to break free of the eternal chain of bondage called our hierarchy pyramid, that natural evolutionary mechanism that has enslaved us to its unyielding control, has failed miserably in its monumental opportunity, instead becoming yet one more victim to our human nature, our evolutionary psychology, our inner demons, the bastards called the elite.

The pyramid that assures the elite remain at the top, basking in the glow of bright and warm sunshine, while the mass of humanity remains shackled at the bottom, freezing in the nadir of darkness, remains an unbreakable and omnipotent force. It cannot be cracked, it seems, nor can it be shattered. Atop the apex of this design of the human condition is the ever-watchful eye of the powerful, forever looking down at its subjects, for millennia sitting at the throne of control, for millennia unable to be usurped by the large majority of humankind. From time immemorial it sits comfortably at the helm of civilization, expanding the wealth and power of the few, subjugating and oppressing the many, ruining the lives, opportunities and fates of the same masses that after all this time have yet to make a dent in the system.

Perhaps this is as it should always be, as it has always been. Perhaps this is how humanity wants to live, how we are predisposed to become. We have yet to stop its momentum, its sinister reality, becoming accepting of its consequences on our lives, never once thinking what our society would be like under different, under truly human, and not mammalian, behaviors and instincts. Perhaps one day we will awaken, fully awaken, ready to be reborn, ready for an enlightenment away from what we have been and currently are, into a realm of what we are capable of becoming.

Perhaps the day will soon arrive when the masses, the People, will awaken from their slumber, realizing that if the course of history is not changed, human history itself will cease to exist. Too many people are suffering; too many people are dying and living in misery. Levels of inequality and injustice keep increasing; the gap between the rich few and the poor masses continues expanding. This pyramid of subjugation and submission cannot sustain itself, it will collapse from under its own weight, bringing humanity down with it. It is only a matter of time, an inevitability given our growing population, our growing frustrations and anger, our diminishing resources, and our continued disregard for the health of the planet.

The question thus arises, does it fall on its own or with the help of six billion human energies? Can we defeat our comfort and materialism and greed and indifference and declare a new course for human endeavors? Can we rise united, of fall individually? Can we exorcise our evolutionary demons and make extinct our linear dominance hierarchical pyramid, or are we condemned to live divided, stratified and segregated by class and caste? In our answers to these and many other questions lies our destiny, as well as the future of our children. To them we will bequeath either the ruins of a failed society, or the blueprints of a new civilization.

Two Axioms of 9/11

------------------------------------

Axiom One: November Fears

With government and corporate media propaganda echoing the traumatic memories of five years ago, from sea to shining sea, enveloping the airwaves and print media of the nation with a clenched fist of wall to wall coverage, Americans have again been bombarded with the exploitation of the mass murder of 3,000 human beings, their death once more serving the political interests of the Bush cabal as well as the financial concerns of the corporate Leviathan. The War on the American People – that psychological operation against our minds and emotions that began with the demolition of the World Trade Center and has continued unabatedly for five consecutive years – has been reinvented and redeployed, its army of lackey journalists, talking heads, government institutions and authoritarian politicians eager to spread the language and images needed to resurrect emotions and feelings, spreading the filth designed to manipulate our fears and hatreds, conditioning us into accepting the dictates of the state and the corporation along with the reality of a world of perpetual war and perpetual terror.

Once more we are being reminded, at the expediency of those in power, and just in case we had begun to forget, that fear is bravery, war is peace, authoritarianism is freedom, dissent is treasonous and a police state is security. Only those truly responsible for perpetrating the events of 9/11, we are made to believe, those lurking behind the smoke, mirrors and purple curtains of the state, can save and defend us from dark-skinned bogeymen of Arab/Muslim lineage that hate us for our freedoms and way of life. Only the fascists in power, we are told, care about preserving and protecting our freedoms, rights, liberties and democracy even as it is they, and not the barbarians at the gates, that are eroding and destroying each with every new day that passes, taking away what the evil terrorist cannot accomplish. It is the dreaded terrorist – of course always Arab in ethnicity or Muslim in faith – we are told by the deciders and the fascists, that roams like a giant cloud of death, hovering above the lands of America, wanting nothing more than to kill us and our children. However, it is the state and its propaganda machine that does not relent in its campaign at frightening and terrorizing the American people, as if it, and not the enemy, is the real terrorist, scaring families, creating stresses and causing insecurity among the masses.

The new blitzkrieg of propaganda and of mental manipulation is an exercise in the further destabilization of already fragile minds and the conditioning of increased fear of those individuals who have begun to forget and heal from the wounds 9/11 inflicted upon the populace. Those in power have taken notice that their scare tactics upon the American people are not as effective as in years previous, and are therefore using the new wave of fear and terror mongering to impose the invisible hand of control – of both thought and action – upon an unsuspecting citizenry, in essence enforcing once again the clandestine iron chain that served to make subservient the minds of hundreds of millions of people in the years after 9/11 that enabled both for one-party dominance along with authoritarian rule, now prevalent in the upper echelons of governance. It is the use of fear and terror, after all, that has propelled the new American fascists to complete dominion over the state, with unfettered power over its institutions, its foundations and its citizenry. It is fear, therefore, that has become the fascist party strategy with terror, its mantra. The only thing they have to offer in the 2006 election year is fear itself.

It has therefore been decided, both by gatekeepers and the Establishment, that the events that left hundreds of millions of people deeply scarred and psychologically fragile must once again be refreshed for all to relive, their remembrance made to resurface from our inner minds so that an entire nation can again be shaped into order and obedience, its collective psyche once more manipulated and controlled by the events, images and sounds that even five years later, still resound with deep disturbance inside the psyche of the masses. It is the horrors of the WTC, more than anything else, that exposed the home of the brave as the culture of cowardice, a people once fearless now made to cower and shake in perpetual fear and insecurity at an enemy concocted, manufactured and marketed by the state and its corporate fear mongers.

Indeed, the toxicity of 9/11 has produced a collective trauma that has made the home of the brave the largest laboratory of Pavlovian dogs in the world, with its manipulated feelings and emotions becoming the bells and whistles we automatically and reflexively gravitate towards, our minds becoming the glands salivating with fear and terror at either the sound or image of anything resembling that terrible day. The blitzkrieg has been relentless and omnipresent, with a barrage of presidential speeches, ceremonies and bully-pulpit distortions and deceptions attacking the airwaves, with executive branch appearances, lies and manipulations allowed to fester in print and camera, with a corporate media once more granting free reign to the dissemination of falsity and blatant propaganda, its journalists acting like the presstitutes they are, once more showing that corporate media is comprised of nothing but political hacks, media shills and corporate lackeys, to the fictitious Hollywood produced movies and docu-dramas serving to propagate the deceptions and propaganda of the Bush cabal. The corporate world, using its vast arsenal of media tools, and in conjunction with the fascist party, will do whatever it can to assure itself of retaining in power the party already at the controls of governance.

Thus, in order to maintain authoritarian rule, along with one-party control, after the important mid-term elections coming up in November, Republicans, now nothing more than full-fledged fascists availing themselves free of the closet of charades and mirages, with the help of the corporate media, have begun to instill in our minds the previously successful fear-mongering campaign of terror, knowing that fear is the one ace in their pocket that has yet to betray them, knowing that it has been their platform based on fear that has kept them in power. Like a magic charm, the mere mention and methodical repetition of 9/11 and its memories has, without fail, served to hypnotize millions of fear stricken citizens to the dictates of authoritarian rule, creating a voting block of ignorant and cowardly creatures that elects to power a fascist party that promises protection and security from terror at the expense of civil rights and liberties.

The fascist party is thus hoping this past success will again work its magic, in an election that is as much a referendum on Iraq as anything else. It will be fear and terror propelled throughout the airwaves and the print media, with bogeymen lurking behind every corner, under every shadow, ready to murder and terrorize. For the next several months the Fear and Terror Show will hit the television, showcasing the latest terror threat that, thanks to the fascist party, was thwarted at the last second, helping to prove, yet again, that it is they alone who can protect and defend you from the evildoers. The Fear and Terror Show will have as hero our very own George W. Bush, decider extraordinaire, Commander in Chief of the Free World, conduit to the Almighty itself, stumping around the nation delivering the same old regurgitated speech, using fancy words and scaremongering tactics, telling us how much danger America is, and how he and his party are the only ones able to protect us. He will stumble and bumble his way through speech after speech, trying to prove to us why Iraq deserved to be invaded, occupied and its society pulverized, trying unsuccessfully, yet again, to correlate Iraq with the so-called war on terror, trying to validate the greatest strategic disaster in the history of the nation.

The desperation of the fascist party can be seen in the level of fear and propaganda it has begun to generate. Its leaders are fully aware that the nation has finally escaped from underneath the clouds of 9/11, most of it thanks to the disaster in Iraq, and that the population is highly dissatisfied with the direction the nation is headed in. The fascist leadership knows that its party is in trouble in November, which is why the barrage of fear mongering and terror tactics will be as relentless as it will be systematic. They have smelled and enjoyed one party rule, along with its many benefits, for six years, and addicted they have become to power, greed and control. The smear campaign against opponents will thus be twice as devastating, for fascists, like wild beasts, will fight tooth and nail when cornered. They, along with Bush and Cheney, know that if they were to lose the House of Representatives, perhaps even the Senate as well, to the anemic, lesser of two evils opposition party, the last two years of the Bush administration will involve a myriad number of investigations, scandals, revelations and calls for impeachment. For all intents and purposes, the Bush presidency will have ended, creating a lame duck executive having little power and much to answer for. If they were to lose the mid-term election, they could be mired in an endless seam of scandals that could implode the party from within. It is for these aforementioned reasons that the fascist party will use everything at its disposal to retain power, no matter the consequences, no matter the immorality. This is an extremely dangerous party in an extremely ominous time in American history.

Naturally, when the entire success of those in power relies on the use of fear as a political tool, or the use and marketing of ambiguous bogeymen as enemies becomes the paramount reason for their continued control, fear itself will be multiplied and expanded, its parameters greatly increased, as we are seeing today, to a degree where the people of the nation are again made to vote and elect the fascist party, against their own interests, based on fragile emotions, damaged psyches and by consequence, unthinking minds. Fear, in the years after 9/11, has, along with the manipulation of terror, become the ultimate manipulative tool, a political emerald for the most immoral and unscrupulous operatives today.

Its use, manipulation and repetition are guaranteed to deliver to the fascist party millions upon millions of votes come election time, regardless of what the other party attempts to do, for today in America there exists a corrosive cocktail of ignorance, cowardice, xenophobia, nationalism and blind loyalty to the state by large segments of the populace that would rather see their civil rights, liberties and freedoms expire than be forced to confront the fictional wickedness of the dreaded Arab bogeyman the state and its Department of Propaganda conjure up.

To millions of individuals, the party in power at the time 9/11 took place will for years be – because of psychological manipulation and human nature – the party of protection, defense, national security the one best suited to win the so-called war on terror, regardless of the fact that it has been the fascist party itself that has made their country, their world, their families and themselves less safe, not more, due to the debacle in Iraq, the biggest strategic disaster in American foreign policy history, and by its catastrophic Middle East policy, especially in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian problem, which only continues to endanger America and the world.

Since 9/11 the Democratic Party, now a center-right, corporate first, political organization, has had to fight an uphill battle against the cratered psychology of the masses. The fascist party has done a successful job of portraying the Democrats as weak on national security and defense of the homeland, marketing it as a party anemic and incapable of protecting the American people. Accordingly, the Democrats, for years with no real power in Washington to speak of, have gotten trampled left and right by the party in power, becoming a party unable to shed its tarnished image, an anorexic minority unable to penetrate the thick fortifications set up by the fascist party. It has tried unsuccessfully to reinvent itself, catering to the new right-of-center reality in America, a tectonic shift caused by the events of 9/11 that triggered the nation’s political pulse to beat more conservatively. Since 9/11 the Democrats, at least the powerful, corporate elements, have remarketed themselves as war mongers, in favor of the occupation of Iraq, in agreement with the war on terror. They have pretended to inject themselves with fascist growth hormone in hopes of attracting some of the 59 million Americans who voted for Bush in 2004. In short, they have become what the Republican Party used to be before flirting with authoritarianism: conservative.

Fortunately for Democrats, and thanks to nobody but the Bush administration, come November they have an excellent shot at retaking one or both houses of Congress. For while it was 9/11, along with Diebold electronic voting machines, that stampeded the fascist party into unrivaled power, it would be Iraq, the Bush administration’s arrogant mistake, a disaster unrivaled in history, that would offer oxygen to the drowning minority party.

Because it was not the party in power at the time of 9/11, lacking the visible reign and loudspeaker power of the presidential bully pulpit, along with being relegated being the minority party in both houses of Congress, the Democratic Party has had to scratch and claw out of the memory hole of obscurity, condemned to premature burial by the earthquake called 9/11. For it was 9/11, an enormous gift to the Bush administration, more than any creative genius by strategists of the fascist regime, that has been the primary catalyst that has stifled Democratic opposition for almost six years. Politically, 9/11 changed everything and it basically guaranteed Bush the 2004 mid term elections as well as the 2004 presidential elections. It was only through his incompetence and idiocy that the 2004 election, a virtual lock with any other incumbent at the helm during 9/11, was so close to begin with, and indeed had to be tampered and compromised in Ohio to guarantee victory.

Without the power of the executive, with negligent control of the government, without the favor of the corporate media, the Democrats have been impotent to alter the course of America or to affect governance. Only the passage of time and the healing of fragile psyches, along with the extraordinary and historical incompetence, corruption, and hubris of the fascist party in power have allowed it to survive above water for the last five years. Yet the Democratic Party’s opportunity to regain control of the House of Representatives, and perhaps even of the Senate, this coming November can be summarized with one simple word: Iraq.

Without the debacle in Iraq, a war lost the moment it began, and without the unprecedented ignorance and incompetence of the Bush administration, the nation would still be under the hypnotizing grip of 9/11 and Bush’s fear and terror orgy that has only served to divide America, squash dissent, scapegoat Arab Muslims and give rise to authoritarian beliefs among millions of Bush supporters. The disaster in Iraq has woken millions of otherwise obedient and acquiescent sheeple to the voluminous damage Bush and his minions have done to America. Yet it is not the fate of Iraq or of its people Americans lament and mourn, but rather the death of almost 3,000 soldiers and the maiming, both mentally and physically, of over 20,000 more. Had Iraq been a success, there would not be today the level of dissatisfaction against Bush and the fascist party we witness at present. It is spilled American blood, and the embarrassment of quagmire and disaster, and not the concern for innocent Iraqis, of which up to 250,000 might have already died, that is propelling such discord in the body politic. Nobody likes a loser, everyone likes a winner, and at present, the American people see nothing but failure and disaster in Iraq, thereby causing millions of voters to seek change at the ballot box.

If Iraq was not the complete failure that we see today, if its military occupation were not the colossal collapse many of us said it would inevitably become, and if its unflinching resistance had not trapped the world’s “most powerful” military in an non-winnable and violent quagmire, the American war culture, full of millions of xenophobic, ignorant and fearful war mongers, many unable to decipher Iraq on a map, unable to coherently argue its reality away from Fox News fictions and fascist party talking points, a culture with a military industrial energy complex full of war profiteers and greed addicted elites, would today be thirsty for Iranian, Lebanese and Syrian blood, as rabid for more warfare as many are for pro football, with the fictional war on terror expanding into a cycle of violence threatening the world entire.

In essence, what Bush has created, full of hubris and messianic confidence, full of apathy for human life and suffering, has invariably led to his downfall, with an immoral, debased, criminal and illegal war based on lies, deceits and manipulations coming back to haunt him in a boomerang display of karmic justice. The war in Iraq has become, without a doubt, George W. Bush’s overbearing nightmare, a weight on his shoulders eroding the fabric of his presidency, haunting him day and night, a personal disaster of his own making. With 9/11, where once he had the love and support of the world at his fingertips, where he once had the power to export positive energy to all corners of the globe, with an opportunity to change the course of humanity for the better, he instead altered the direction of human compassion and unity, creating worldwide hatred and animosity for his person and his country, importing fear and exporting brutal violence, choosing the path of greed and imperial hubris over that of togetherness and of humankind, in the end making his subjects less safe, not more and assuring America of perpetual threats arising from the myriad number of hate-filled, revenge-seeking groups seeking to make right the many wrongs inflicted by the decisions of the fascist party.

The presidency of George W. Bush, along with the power of the fascist party, have so become intertwined with the myths, fables, fictions and fears of 9/11 that without its perpetual dissemination, without the manipulation of its engendered fears and hatreds, without the ever-constant reminder to the people of the “official” narrative, the party risks, thanks to the passage of time and the healing of psyches, thanks to citizens waking from their propaganda-laced brainwashing and their hypnotized stupor, losing the high levels of electoral and political support it has enjoyed since 9/11. It is, therefore, of vital importance to the fascists in power that the sense be instilled into the population as if 9/11 just happened all over again, that its emotions and hatreds and fears and panic and hunger for vengeance be replicated, day in and day out, so that the citizenry be forced to confront their own feelings and memories, remembering exactly who was in power, who led a country in mourning, who declared a call for justice, who declared war, who has been in command of this “war on terror” from the very beginning.

With this in mind, it is easy to see the usefulness of never allowing the American populace the opportunity to relax or breathe in security and a sense of well-being. If tens of millions can be kept fearful and terrorized, perpetually afraid of their health and way of life, thinking that only by placing complete blind trust in the fascist party can they be protected from the dreaded Arab and Muslim “terrorists,” then surely the party in power can retain firm one-party control of the state, finally having the opportunity to shred social programs, expand the military budget and unleash war upon the American middle class. If this formula of fear, terror, protection and security can be perfected and maintained, it becomes a possibility that the party in power can retain its power as well as its one-party control for years to come, with each new year amplifying its authoritarian rule and its evisceration of democracy.

The war on terror, more than anything else, is a war on the American people’s minds, an experiment at controlling, through fear and terror, the thoughts and decisions of 300 million citizens. The events of 9/11 became a bottomless gold mine to the fascist party, an opportunity to establish permanent rule and dominion over the American political landscape. It is for this reason that the fascist party refuses to stop terrorizing and instilling fear into the minds of the American people. If they can fill millions with fear, concern and attention directed at an alien, unknown, dark-skinned bogeyman, an easy scapegoat from which to place blame at, rather than at its own decimation of the middle class and the erosion of civil rights and liberties, then their job will be made that much easier. If we place our concern and our minds at the Arab terrorist trying to kill us for our freedom and our way of life then we will be less aware as the fascist party fuses with the corporate Leviathan to further devastate our way of life.

For this reason the five year anniversary of 9/11 was made, yet again, a spectacle full of patriotism, nationalism and love of tribe, from flags handed out at pro football games to those hanging on school grounds, from hours of television devoted to never forgetting and always remembering to homework assignments devoted to 9/11, all activities designed both to stir the same feelings, emotions and psychology in the adult population they experienced five years ago to inculcating a new generation of children to the official narrative of events, thereby capturing innocent minds into the devastating fictions and fears of the so-called war on terror. Like a new Thanksgiving or Fourth of July, 9/11 has become, in the short span of five years, yet one more tool of systemic control, a day designed to politicize the death of 3,000 people, a day to validate the fascist-driven war on terror, a day to remind people exactly who was in power and who defended them from the evildoers. In the American narrative, 9/11 has become part of the national lore, a myth like many others before, propagated from coast to coast, from generation to generation, giving life to a vicious circle of violence that is now a self-fulfilling prophesy, becoming the perpetual reminder, as well as the impetus, for the decisive “ideological struggle of the 21st century.”

It is rather interesting, in this day of fascist undertaking and authoritarian rule, that it is the fascist in power concocting fear mongering and emotion-laden terms such as “Islamofascist” and “Totalitarian Islamists” that, while successful in polls and focus groups, does not purport to explain the beliefs of the so-called enemy. Instead, in describing America’s new enemy – one that is perfect to the fascist party because it is so alien to our culture, religion and way of life, so far removed from our shores and our knowledge of foreign peoples, so perfect because of our ignorance of the outside world and that of anything that does not conform to our materialist, consumerist and capitalist way of life – he is describing himself, his party, his followers along with their actions, imputing his beliefs and ideologies onto an enemy marketed so as to correspond to America’s most dreaded fears and concerns.

This perfect enemy, remade one more time to see if Americans take the bait yet again, with its newly minted perfect focus group name, molded from the same soils and clay from which the fascist party takes a drink of water, is but a hollow invention of everything Americans fear, an amalgam of decades of fear-induced terms and ideologies conditioned into our being, combining all the greatest fears of all the enemies we have ever fought into one, absolute mammoth of a bogeyman, capable of destroying the world’s most powerful nation, something even the much more powerful enemies of our past could not achieve.

Imputed onto this terrorist enemy, then, is encapsulated our deepest fears of the various enemies of the Second World War, of the Cold War, of Vietnam, of everything we have been conditioned to detest and hate, using words such as “totalitarian” and “fascist” and “tyranny” and “Hitler” and “Stalin” and “Lenin” that, while historically facetious, nonetheless connote feelings of deep fear, terror and revulsion. Yet in the aura of this illusory enemy we see not a dark-skinned Arab or Muslim, but the reflection of ourselves and our history, for inside our greatest fears also lie our most sinister realities, truths we cannot bear to see except implanted in the face of alien enemies not known or understood.

Axiom Two: Inevitable Triumph of Truth

Yet, as can be seen today, the attempt at controlling the populace through the use of fear, in the age of the Internet, is much easier said than done. With Cold War mentalities prevalent in the upper echelons of governance, their faded ideology filling the halls of power, it was easy to become convinced that the population could be controlled in much the same way as when the dreaded Soviet was enemy number one. During this time, however, information was sequestered and controlled by a minute number of gatekeepers, thereby keeping the masses in perpetual ignorance of reality, unaware of truth and condemned to have no choice but to believe whatever information the government decided to provide. The Cold War was an authoritarian’s wet dream, for in their absolute control over information and knowledge the people were more willing to accept the dictates of power, their minds unable to entertain the thought of possessing non-governmental truth.

Today, however, the siphon of information has been blasted open by the power of the Internet. Entire legions of cyber patriots can in an instant hold accountable members of governance, their computer screens instantly popping up the latest news and information from all corners of the planet. What was once hidden from view, what once the gatekeepers kept from our curious eyes, today get spread like a virus from coast to coast, its dissemination opening minds and creating knowledge among entire tiers of the population. The Internet’s infantry, an army of couch activists, detectives, writers, journalists and watchdogs, living in a communal undertaking of global significance, can today hold to account governments, corporations, individuals, the media and the institutions that were once protected by the invisible cloak of secrecy.

It is not farfetched to describe the Internet as the greatest invention of communication and knowledge ever created by man, after that of language and writing, surpassing the printing press, the telephone and the television. In its enormous success at informing the People, however, lies its ultimate threat to the Establishment, and the reason why the next decade will see an aggressive attempt at curtailing its power, at infecting its capacity to inform and teach, at controlling its content, at making it much more difficult for the People to access its wonderful communicative capabilities. If we are not ready to fight for its survival, those in power will make sure it is never allowed to interfere in their plans and goals again. They have seen the monumental effect the Internet has had in informing the People regarding Iraq and the lies and fictions of the government. They have seen its ability to join ideas and thoughts, its capacity to regurgitate knowledge and truth, its mechanisms for shedding light where once darkness reigned. They have seen, in its purest and most absolute form, democracy rise and thrive in the plethora of websites scattered throughout the Internet.

It was the Cold War mentality of the architects of the attacks of 9/11, with their inability to adapt to societal change or to the informational potential of the Internet, along with their inability to escape their Soviet era strategies, that has enabled millions of people from all regions of the world to see for themselves the events of that fateful day, over and over again, from dozens of angles. The Internet has been the catalyst for millions of people to become informed by the studies, research, findings and information of many others, for the first time in history bringing together millions of individuals in the pursuit of seeking the truth to one of the most heinous crimes of the modern era. This development the architects of 9/11 did not plan for or expect, as their Cold War era mentality, where control of information by the state and the Establishment was absolute, did not contemplate or envision such a reality. As a result, an entire community of truth seekers is free to assiduously pursue a challenge to the official conspiracy theory, searching for answers the state and the corporate media, through their institutions and channels, have not and will never provide.

Today millions of individuals do not need to depend on the blind trust placed on the honor of the state or the last word of the corporate media; these entities need not be taken for their word any longer; their lies are no longer sacrosanct, their propaganda can now be dissected and destroyed, their charades can now be questioned and explored. Government and corporate media can be discovered for what they are, their manipulations and deceptions outlined and exposed, their whitewashes and cover-ups shown for the falsity they are. The population of a nation can now, at the touch of the keyboard, finally question authority, seeking answers to questions not by asking the state or corporate media lackeys, but by using critical thinking, reason and logic. The emancipation and expansion of the human mind, away from the dictates of the state, the interests of the corporate Leviathan or the conditioned brainwashing of our youth are but three benefits of this wonder called the Internet.

So transparent are the lies cover-ups and whitewashes of the government regarding the events of 9/11, so pervasive is the corporate media’s unwillingness to question the official conspiracy theory or investigate its many polemic events, and so obvious is the state’s blatant involvement on 9/11 itself, that the 9/11 Truth Movement has, thanks to the Internet, grown by leaps and bounds over the last couple of years, regardless of those gatekeepers, be it from the right or left, whose job it is to maintain as reality the fictional account as told by the Bush administration and the Democratic party. The Internet has opened the 9/11 events to the full investigative powers of the other superpower, humankind itself, from all walks of life, from all corners of the globe, all united in pursuit of the truth in the wake of such an apparent criminal undertaking. The Truth Movement, whether LIHOP or MIHOP, has been brought together by community and technology, by the collection of news and information once hidden and suppressed now deciphered and seen, free to roam the vast expanse of the information superhighway. The Truth Movement, more than anything else, has connected the dots to an enormous mountain of evidence supporting the fact that 9/11 was an inside job, an act of state sponsored terror.

This movement for truth, smeared as “conspiracy nuts, theorists,” and “wackos” by those whose beautiful minds are too perfect to contemplate thinking outside the box, by those who think their precious minds are too important to be bothered by such “ridiculous” opinion, by those whose ego will always be much greater than their intellect, is doing the job the media once did, searching for truth wherever it may lie, however uncomfortable it may seem, investigating, researching and studying the overwhelming evidence contradicting the official conspiracy theory. Whatever one chooses to believe regarding 9/11, the Internet has broken the seal off of the state and corporate monopoly on the dissemination of information, allowing the river of available information to flow freely through the consciousness of humankind. Today, millions of minds can see the evidence presented in front of their eyes, analyze the information, and draw a conclusion. More and more people, when confronted with all available 9/11 related research, are seeing 9/11 for what it really was, not what the state and its propaganda machines want the world to see. Millions are connecting the dots, finally seeing a picture that is altogether uncomfortable and frightening.

It is such levels of uncomfortable and frightening realities that will invariably lead millions of Americans to self-censor themselves, blinding themselves from seeing the light, refusing to believe in the possibility that their own government perpetrated the events of 9/11, in spite of mountains of evidence proving the contrary. It is the idea that those chosen to protect and defend the nation and its people could actually do both extreme harm that the majority of people cannot fathom. For our entire lives we have been nurtured to place complete trust in the mechanisms of the state; we have been brainwashed from birth to think the government is a benign and honorable entity, incapable of harming us or our fellow citizens. For years under the nation’s educational systems we are ingrained with the fictions of noble Presidents performing noble deeds, of a Congress comprised of honorable representatives, of a government of, by and for the People. These fictions are rammed down our minds, for years embedded into our belief system by the invisible hands of the state, inevitably making us completely subservient to its activities and functions.

It is this pervasive yet methodical brainwashing, this nurtured conditioning upon the bosom of governance, that acts as the subconscious barricade halting our quest for answers, for questioning authority, for seeing the reality of what the state is capable of doing to its people in the interests of power and greed. Years of brainwashing serve to make us obedient and subservient to the dictates of the state and our leaders, it serves to make us place blind trust and loyalty in governance, in a belief that those chosen by the people have only altruistic motives behind their political masks. This mirage, a belief that like religion we are naturally and genetically inclined towards following, is the greatest obstacle for seeing truth, yet it also separates those with internal bravery from those fearful of reality, for, just as it is much easier to believe a heavenly afterlife exists after death than to perceive death as the end of life and the beginning of nothingness, it is easier to live the charade of the state’s and our leaders’ altruism than in the prevalent wickedness of its actions.

Unable to escape the belief that the state and its leaders can do not wrong, not willing to accept the malevolent intentions of state sponsored terror upon the populace, millions would rather seek the comfortable satisfaction of drinking the kool-aid than the uncomfortable suffocation experienced going down the rabbit hole. Millions, through no fault of their own, are unable to escape the haze of perpetual brainwashing, preferring the warmth of ignorance over the unsettling fright of reality. Confronted with the mountain of truth placed in front of their eyes, millions will nonetheless choose to conjure up outrageous theories and explanations trying to validate the events of 9/11 through the official government narrative, refusing, because of the uncomfortable and traumatic ramifications of alternate theories, to believe anything outside what has conveniently been concocted by both the state and its corporate media propaganda.

The events of 9/11, as horrific and traumatic as they were, remain to tens of millions, either by purposeful blindness or lack of knowledge in the events, the evil yet sole intentions of Arab extremists, without complicity from the American government. Unfortunately for many, they will never be able to jump the hurdle placed in their mind almost from birth, unable or unwilling to escape the matrix of state and corporate control over their lives. The truth is too unbearable to bear, its reality too unfathomable to comprehend, its ramifications becoming too bizarre and corrosive for the average American mind to swallow. Thus, many will simply chose to remain ignorant, suspecting the truth yet belittling the patriots risking ridicule or worse to expose the truth, preferring to live enslaved rather than living free, their minds remaining chained to the vacuum of their masters, surrounding themselves with the comfort of materialism and the escapism of propaganda and television, their decision made so as not to interfere or interrupt lives normal and adequate. Better to live a lie than be bothered or rattled by truth; better to smear truth seekers than to contemplate an earth shattering and disturbing shock to the system.

Yet millions of Americans who remain ignorant should not be smeared themselves, for every person arrives at separate times in their journey called life, finding truth in their own way, confronting reality as best they know how. All the Truth Movement can do is offer them a hand at seeing beyond their cages, pointing them in the direction of all available 9/11 research and investigations and allowing each individual to make up his or her mind. For unlike George W. Bush’s democracy building project in the “new” Middle East, 9/11 truth and reality cannot be implemented at the insistence of a barrel of a gun, nor can it rush its devastating implications into the minds of those still unable or unwilling to confront a very difficult mindfuck. In time truth will find a way and when that day arrives, the cloudy skies will part, offering bright and radiant light where only dark surroundings once reigned, and the fertile valleys of awakening will overtake the barren deserts of despotism.

Such is the power and momentum of the 9/11 Truth Movement that a growing ideology is rising from the minds of fascists that seeks to squash and suppress the truth from ever rising. To the Establishment and those in power, the Truth Movement has become an enormous threat to the system, capable of uncovering the greatest hoax in the history of modern man, capable of unraveling carefully planned visions and goals. Already as much as 40 percent of Americans doubt the official conspiracy theory, with the numbers of enlightened citizens growing daily thanks to the plethora of evidence available online and in print. For truth cannot be hidden long or sequestered from the people; truth always finds a way out of the dungeons of falsities and fictions. For this reason truth seekers are being persecuted and intimidated, their voices silenced, their research questioned and invalidated, their momentum tried to be stopped. Truth seekers are smeared and ridiculed instead of being confronted with alternate research and facts, for it is easier to destroy truth by destroying and contaminating its voices than by confronting its reality. The corporate media, along with its journalist hacks, refuses to confront the questions regarding the events of 9/11, or investigate the myriad number of anomalies in existence, preferring to cover-up the possibility of truth, thinking that by ignoring the issue its truth will be made to disappear.

A war against the 9/11 Truth Movement is under way, both by the state and the corporate world, in an attempt at squelching the movement before it grows, before its momentum becomes an unstoppable tsunami capable of waking the American people from their decades-long doldrums. It is for this reason that the corporate media ignores a growing movement, pretending questions and answers do not exist, why gatekeepers try and alter opinion, why the state invests millions of dollars to contradict the research of scientists and tenured professors, why to even speak of alternate theories evokes the wrath of the Establishment. More and more, to question the narrative of the official conspiracy theory is seen as treasonous, as un-American, as anathema to the principles of the nation. To seek answers to the ambiguous events of 9/11, to deviate away from what the state says is truth is to become a pariah in the community, the university, work or in one’s profession. A disturbing pattern is emerging, one all too familiar in totalitarian societies, that seeks to quiet any questioning and investigation of the real events of 9/11 and who was responsible, using the veil of intimidation and the questioning of patriotism to silence dissent.

If there is nothing to hide, why the smear campaign? If the truth is what the state says happened, why the stifling of dissent? If so confident in the official narrative, why the suppression of truth seekers and their work? Why are the valid questions asked by the Truth Movement answered only by smears, libel and slander? Why does there exist such friction and inertia by the Establishment against asking questions, researching and investigating 9/11 and its history? Cannot the “official truth” of the state stand up to the “outlandish” theories of the “lunatic fringe” so that alternate theories cannot exist and indeed must be dispelled? Indeed, it is the actions of the Establishment and its gatekeeper lackeys that betray the falsity of the official conspiracy theory and the extent to which they will stoop to curtail the truth from rising to be seen.

For what the gatekeepers and opinion makers of the so-called progressive left who would rather smear than try to comprehend fail to understand, what they cannot see in missing the forest for the trees, is that the events of 9/11 gave rise to a paradigm shift in American life, transforming its culture and its people in negative ways, creating authoritarian mentalities, imperial ambitions, fascist ideologies and an overall descent into the corruption of morals and of society itself. 9/11 was the catalyst for a colonial, indeed an imperial war against exclusively Arab and Muslim peoples, against those lands pregnant with the devil’s excrement, resulting in a malevolence not seen since the 1930’s, with preemptive wars; the use of depleted uranium that has and will kill in genocidal figures; the brutal occupation of Iraq and her people, many subjected to torture, rape, mass murder, illegal detention and dehumanization, along with the vicious cycle of violence that creates rather than diminishes terrorism, making of the war on terror a self-fulfilling prophesy. 9/11 has resulted in the complete disregard for international law, in a level of hubris never before seen, in a complete corruption of society, in the deep division of Americans, in the rise and prevalence of xenophobia, bigotry and racism among the populace, the erosion of rights and the evisceration of civil liberties, the destruction and debauchery of democracy, the rise of predatory capitalism, the emergence of an inevitable police state and the introduction of fascist ideology and its implementation of beliefs throughout the American landscape.

What these perfect little people cannot grasp, those of beautiful minds and god-like intellect, is that everything America and the world are being subjected to, whether it is the rising threat of global or regional warfare, the decimation of America’s middle class, the coming collapse of the American economy, the rise of fascist ideology, the inhumane suffering in Palestine, the constant threat of war from America to those nations that do not kiss the ring of imperialism, the stolen elections in developing nations courtesy of America, a dictatorial presidency and the rise of the one-party state, has been born through the sinful events of 9/11.

Without 9/11 Bush is a one-term failure, a mere asterisk in history books, relegated to brushing weeds and avoiding horses in his little Hollywood production set in Texas. Without 9/11 the neocons at the helm of a hijacked America would be living back home in Israel, dreaming of ways to expand the power of the Israeli state. Without 9/11 imperial hegemony would be replaced by multilateral agreement; up to 250,000 Iraqis would still be alive, thousands more would live in peace and tranquility. The Middle East would be a much more peaceful and stable region, with the lives of almost 3,000 American soldiers saved, their energies not wasted in corporate wars for resources and hegemony. Without 9/11 the fascist party would not have become the rubber stamp Congress for a unitary executive approaching dictatorship, checks and balances would still be a reality and the growing police state would be checked at its infancy.

Without 9/11, America would still be the land of the free and the home of the brave, not the land of the meek and the home of the slave. Without 9/11 America would not today be the culture of cowardice, afraid and fearful of hyper-inflated and exaggerated enemies, a people terrorized by its own government into blindly handing liberties, rights and freedoms to authoritarian autocrats camouflaged as government servants. Without 9/11 the dangerous cocktail of jingoism, theology and ignorance would not merge forming one combustible citizenry ready at an authoritarian’s wave to hate, despise and scapegoat dark-skinned minorities whose only crimes is being different in culture and ethnicity to the god-fearing, flag-draped, follower-psychology, supporters of the fascist party.

It is the search for 9/11 Truth, and the subsequent justice spawned from its prosecution, that can put an end to, or at the least slow down, the tyranny at home and the imperial hegemonic aspirations of the Bush Cabal. Lacking the legitimacy of 9/11, with no enemy to blame or wickedness to castigate, those in power cannot continue with their intentions and goals. Were the 9/11 Truth to emerge, perhaps the paradigm shift that occurred on 9/11 would correct itself, insomuch as we could never return to an old image of ourselves, creating a new America, a better America for all, free of the debasement and pollution and corruption and greed born from pathological capitalism, perhaps granting us the window of opportunity needed to self-correct a sinking ship. If 9/11 was indeed an inside job, like many suspect, perhaps the end result would be an enlightenment upon the populace causing a new beginning in the way America treats the world, and itself. Were the truth to emerge, an awakening of everything that has ever been done in our name could be born, an understanding of all that has ever been done to us could materialize, a comprehension of what is presently happening in our nation could surface.

The search for what really happened on 9/11, besides being an investigation into a crime of the most malfeasant and nefarious degree, is also a search for an America lost now lost for five years, hidden beneath the ashes of the Twin Towers on that fateful and horrific day. Every day more and more people from all walks of life, from all corners of the globe walk the giant path across the invisible bridge of truth, displacing long held brainwashing and conditioning, long held chains and shackles that prevented freedom to think and analyze. Upon the great canyon of bravery these millions have taken the blinders off their eyes, finally able to see the shadows hidden throughout society, the dark figures of the state and the corporate world for decades preventing our eyes from seeing a reality disfigured by smoke and distorted by mirrors. Today, more than ever, the smoke is clearing and the mirrors are breaking, a product of millions of individuals joined in unison, marching strong towards the gates of truth.

The universal search for truth and justice is all encompassing, an omnipotent force that is compelling the people of the world, the Second Superpower, you, me and everyone else, towards the inevitable push in uncovering and bringing to justice a mass murder that killed 3,000 of the world’s citizens and altered, perhaps forever, the course of human events. In the quest for truth and justice the memories of the fallen, both in America and Iraq, compel us forward, granting us the energy and the strength needed to reach deep into realms never touched by humankind, forcing power to kneel before the weak, a mass of humanity demanding accountability from those few who think humanity is expendable, simple peons in the grand games nations play.

We seek truth because injustice and wickedness have been perpetrated against us and against those now deceased. We seek truth because to millions of people, the official story just does not add up. We seek truth and justice because to ignore the obvious would be to enslave ourselves to power, yet again, sacrificing the freedoms of our future for the comfort of our beautiful and precious minds. In truth we seek freedom, in freedom we seek a life free from the chains of bondage. In numbers we find strength, in strength we find people power. Our numbers will continue to expand, our power will continue to grow. The human quest for truth is never ending, it cannot be suppressed for long. The inevitability of our momentum and the exponential growth of our movement will make sure that sooner or later, the truth sets the world free.
